Hello, I am Mitchell R. Cota, retired USAF Master Sergeant with almost 30 years of service. Retirement afforded me the chance to pursue my hobby of writing. Using my GI Bill, I earned two Associates Degrees – Television Production in the Spring of 2018 and Visual Communications the following semester, both to make me a better storyteller.
For several months in 2015, I authored a Veteran’s Column in my college’s biweekly newspaper after an instructor approached me to write a veteran’s piece to aid students in editing their class projects. Although I was not involved in the class other than providing articles, it was an honor being asked. I pitched the idea to my local newspaper, who liked it and ran the stories during the same time period.
Since 1992, I have written many story ideas in my free time. My plans are now to focus solely on completing, and hopefully one day publishing them. I have a habit of starting many but never finishing any! I always think I had time to finish them, but I was wrong. After retiring, I became busier than ever, spending a lot of time working with Veteran’s Organizations, being in school and all other manners of life’s little distractions.
When I decided to go to college, my beautiful wife Desirée gave me the idea to take subjects that would help me in my storytelling, as well as some fun ones too. I enrolled in writing, acting and television production classes, which aided me in character, scene and story plot development, all the while, jotting down more story ideas.
I currently have concepts for five books and four short stories, with one short story needing a rewrite and another nearly complete and ready for publishing as early as January 2021, if not sooner.
